Bolton mobile repair FAQs.
Plain answers on judging your own damage, what we won’t touch, pricing, the visit and our warranty.
Judging your damage
How do I tell how deep a scratch is?
Drag a fingernail gently across it. If it glides over, it’s probably in the clear coat; if it catches, it has reached the colour or deeper. Our scratch repair guide explains each case.
Which dents are suitable for a mobile repair?
Small, rounded dents on a flat part of a panel are the best candidates. Sharp creases, body lines and panel edges are harder. The dent removal page goes into detail.
My bumper is cracked. Can it be saved?
A short crack from the edge often can. A split you can see through, or missing pieces, usually means a new bumper. See our bumper repair advice.
How can I tell if my alloy is damaged beyond paint?
Vibration through the wheel at speed or a tyre that keeps losing air suggests a bend or crack, which we don’t repair. Surface kerb rash is fine; read about painted alloy wheel repair.
Why is it called a S.M.A.R.T repair?
Small to Medium Area Repair Technology. Only the damaged section is prepared and refinished, rather than the entire panel.
What we won’t take on
Is there anything you always turn down?
Rust and corrosion, structural or heavy accident damage, panels that need replacing, diamond-cut wheels, cracked or bent wheels and wheel colour changes. The body repairs page explains why.
Why won’t you repair rust?
Paint applied over rust fails from underneath, usually within months. We won’t sell a repair we know won’t hold.
Will you tell me if a bodyshop is the better option?
Yes, from the photos and before anything is booked. We’ll also tell you if a simple polish might be all you need.
Prices and paying
How do I get a price?
Fill in our online quote form with your details, car, postcode and photos of every area you want repairing. If it’s a job for the van, a fixed figure follows.
Why won’t you quote over the phone?
The size, depth and position of the damage set the price, and we need to see them to be accurate. A photo takes a minute.
Will the price change on the day?
Not if the photos showed the damage fully. If we find something different, we explain it and ask before doing any extra paid work.
Can I spread the cost?
PayPal and Klarna can both be used on agreed quotes, subject to their own checks. Details are on our payment options page.
Booking and the visit
When are you available?
We work Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Anything sent in the evening or at the weekend gets a reply the following working day.
Is a workplace car park OK?
Often, if it’s parked off the road and the site owner is happy. Check your town on the areas we cover page.
What do I need to provide?
Somewhere off the road with a clear metre or so round the car, a space for our van and mains power close by. Public roads are a no-go for repairs.
What happens if it rains?
Paint needs dry air and a reasonable temperature. If the forecast would ruin the finish, we’ll call you to move the day.
Can I move my booking?
Of course. Give us a shout early and we’ll juggle the diary to find you a fresh slot.
Warranty and insurance
Are you insured?
Yes, we hold cover for the work we do on driveways and at workplaces. Meet our insured repair team.
What warranty do I get?
Paint and panel repairs are guaranteed under our Lifetime Ownership Warranty until you sell or pass on the car. Work on painted alloys gets twelve months. Cover doesn’t reach rust or corrosion, nor failures traced to somebody else’s earlier repair or the products they used. The detail is in our full repair terms.
