Mobile Car Bumper Repairs Bolton
Most scuffed bumpers can be rebuilt on the car. Here’s how to tell whether yours is one of them, and what happens when it isn’t.
Repair or replace? A quick bumper check

Modern bumpers are flexible plastic covers, and plastic takes a knock very differently from steel. Before you send pictures, have a look at three things:
- The surface. Scrapes, white scuff marks and shallow gouges on a corner are the classic mobile repair.
- The edges. A short crack at the edge can usually be bonded and refinished. A tear you can push your finger through generally can’t.
- The fit. If the bumper has dropped, gaps have opened up or clips have snapped, the cover may need refitting or replacing first.
How a bumper is rebuilt in place
We sand out the rough plastic, reshape any gouge with a flexible filler that bends with the bumper, then prime, colour and clear coat the area so it matches the rest of the car. The bumper normally stays on throughout. If the photos show damage beyond that, such as missing chunks or broken mounting tabs, we’ll tell you a new bumper from a parts supplier and a bodyshop fit is the sensible route.
Sensors and cameras
Plenty of bumpers now carry parking sensors. Mention them when you ask for a price; we work carefully around them and will warn you from the photos if the damage sits right over a sensor housing.
Booking a bumper repair
- Take one wide picture of the full bumper and one tight shot of the damage.
- Add your registration and postcode on our form.
- We reply with a figure and some dates, then come to your home or workplace on the one you choose.
Did the same bump scrape the wing? Put it on the same request under scratch and paint repairs. A kerbed wheel from the same moment can be done on the same visit as an alloy wheel repair, a dented panel above the bumper falls under dent repair, and bigger knocks are priced as bodywork repairs.
